New Bee Painting
I’m
back at work in the gallery after almost 3 weeks in the US, and I’ve
brought a lot of new art supplies and inspiration back with me.
The
weeks before leaving, I finished some new bee paintings. While I was
away, one of them left to find a new home. So after returning, I have
finished one more, and it is now hanging in the gallery.

The Artwitness Exhibition
Last weekend we opened an exciting new exhibition in Gamlebyen, Fredrikstad: the ArtWitness Sales Exhibition. ArtWitness is a collaboration between Bastion 5, Café Magenta and Gamlebyen Gjestgjestgiveri, and the artworks in the exhibition are all part of Norwegian artist and collector Petar Tale's extensive collection.
It's truly a privilege to be a part of this collaborative project, and the galleries associated with Bastion 5 are now showing original works by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Kåre Tveter, and Petar Tale. To have my work displayed besides these great masters in Det Grunnmurede Galleri is such an honour.
If you happen to be in the area, the exhibition runs until October 31st. Feel free to come by and enjoy the fall season with us in Bastion 5!

Artwork makes me feel comfortable – even outside my comfort zone!
My entire life I have had a passion for arts and crafts.
I have been fortunate enough to develop my artwork over many years with many handmade products delivered in Scandinavia and the US.
Four years ago, when I was given the chance to have my own gallery in fantastic surroundings in the Old Town of Fredrikstad, Norway, I took a giant step outside my comfort zone. I opened myself up to an audience and all the paintings I made were like my babies.
I originally started painting to create a space for myself, but I discovered that a lot of people liked my art and my style.
That is why I have during the last 6 months worked hard to find partners I can trust in order to take the next giant step for me.
So very soon I will make my art available outside Norway and I would like to thank you very much for giving me your support over many years.
Trust me – I would never have been able to do this without all the positive feedback I have received from you.
Thank you for making me comfortable – even way outside my comfort zone.
MetteHummelArt is soon to bee-come a butterfly!

Exciting announcement coming soon!
Big and exciting news will be announced in a couple of days!
Something that I've been asked about, thinking about, and working for these past months will finally happen.
I'll keep you posted!
Since November I have had the pleasure, opportunity, and privilege to travel for inspiration.
Some of my destinations have been Costa Rica, Australia, Singapore, and California.
In between traveling, I've been painting and working in the gallery in the Old Town here in Fredrikstad, Norway.
I also had the pleasure to have my dear friends Jenny Grant from Sweden, Valerie Roussel from France, and Sigga Dis from Iceland to stay with me for four days while we attended a three-day painting workshop – "Find your flow"– with Jenny Grant. Some pretty amazing days!
I learned a lot of new technics and plenty of new inspiration :-)
These paintings were create after the workshop.
Quote by Mahatma Gandhi:
"Be the change you want to see in the world."
Canvas 80x80 cm.
Quote by Howard Thurman:
"Don't ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive
and go do it.
Because what the world needs
is people who have come alive."
Canvas 80x120 cm.
